NSA BATTLE ROYALE I A/B TOURNAMENT

TCT began their fall season on Sunday September 11, 2011.... the 10th anniversary of the attack on the Twin Towers. TCT dressed in red, white, and blue to show their respect for this day. The NSA Battle Royale I A/B tournament started with a moment of silence in rememberance of the people who lost their lives that day.
TCT started the foggy morning off by playing their first pool play game against the Lemont Sizzlers A team. TCT jumped on them early, scoring 4 runs in the first inning. The Sizzlers fought back and put 3 runs up of their own. Both teams remained scoreless through the remainder of the game, as TCT held the lead and won the game 4-3.
The second pool play game was against Oak Lawn Ice A team. Their bats were hot and TCT lost this tough one 3-11. Although, this loss didn't happen without some great plays. TCT made a double play as Lauren caught a fly ball at 2nd then threw it to Holly at 1st to pick the runner off. Taylor made an awesome sliding catch in CF. And Lindsey had a nicely placed push bunt between the pitcher and 1st baseman that allowed her to take 1st. This placed TCT as the Second Seed going into championship play.
In this single elimination tournament, the pressure is on. You lose, you go home. TCT will meet again with the Lemont Sizzlers for their first championship play game. TCT took the sizzle out of the Sizzlers as the girls held them scoreless after the 2nd inning. TCT continued to score throughout the game. Stoi made a diving catch in foul territory off the 3rd base line. In the 4th inning, Hannah caught a pop up, ending the inning, and keeping the tying run at 3rd from scoring. TCT finished strong scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th. And once again, Taylor made an awesome sliding catch in CF. TCT won 9-4 and headed to the Championship Game.
The Championship Game was against Oak Lawn Ice A team. Their bats remained as hot as they had been all day. But TCT fought hard as they made a run for it in the 3rd inning by scoring 5 runs. Kelsey had an unassisted double play in the 1st inning, catching a fly ball at SS and picking off the runner at 2nd. Taylor made a stretching catch while on the run in CF. Kelsey, Stoi, and Sarah Drummond all hit triples in this game. TCT was unable to score enough runs to come up with a win.
There were 4 teams that attended and TCT was the only 'B' team. TCT went 2-2 and took 2nd Place. Three of TCT's new players got their first hit for TCT today, Lindsey Jurkovic, Sarah Daly, and Morgan Daly. Congratulations girls.
