Arcadia InvitationalApr. 12, 2008 MIL athletes enjoy eye-popping experience http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ef0nX_XgEMo&feature=related By RODNEY S. YAP LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Seabury Hall's Kailea Tracy-Visintainer finished tied for second place in her girls 400-meter heat, crossing the finish line with a personal best of 57.31 seconds at the 41st Annual Arcadia Invitational on Saturday. "She was leading for almost the entire race," said Rudy Huber of Runner's Paradise of Tracy-Visintainer's 400 race. "She just needs to work on the last 50 meters."
Meanwhile, Reid Hunter of King Kekaulike was fifth in the boys mile at 4 minutes, 29 seconds. Hunter also recorded a time of 2:08.0 in the 800, on very "little rest," according to Huber. In the boys 400, Baldwin's Joey Amescua finished sixth in 51.16 and King Kekaulike's Jesse Henderson placed seventh in 51.58. Later, in the early evening, before a standing-room-only estimated crowd of 15,000 at Arcadia High School, Amescua ran a season best 1:58.20, but finished last against a field of more than 12 competitors. Amescua, who will be running at USC next spring, clocked a personal best 1:56.32 at the Hawaii state championships on Maui last year. "He got into a good race and ran a good time, but he knows there is still plenty of work to do," reported Huber from the meet. Huber noted that the top three place finishers in the boys invitational 800 ran "1:51s." Amescua's new 800 time ranks him No. 1 in Hawaii. Hunter held the previous best of 2:01.0h. The winning time at Arcadia in the boys 100 was 10.40 and the girls 100 was 11.50, Huber said. "This meet can be a real eye-opener for some," Huber added. "It's definitely one of the best prep meets in the country." Later in the evening, Tracy-Visintainer finished 8th in the girls invitational 200 with a time of 25.60. http://www.arcadiainvitational.org/
