MIL JV Boys ResultsMay. 1, 2008 Wilson’s 36 points lead Bears to boys title

WAILUKU – Baldwin High School hurdler/jumper Rowe Wilson and sprinters John Vergara and Vance Rosete were big winners in the boys division of the MIL Junior Varsity Championships last Saturday at the Yamamoto Track & Field Facility.
Wilson won the triple jump (39 feet, 4.75 inches) and the high jump (5-10) and finished second in both hurdle races (16.40, 42.84) to score a team-high 36 individual points as Baldwin won the team title with 165 points. Kamehameha Maui was second with 117 points, followed by Maui High’s 90 and Seabury Hall’s 36.
Vergara won the long jump (19-4.75), 100 (11.3) and finished second in the 200 (23.62). Rosete was second in the 100 (11.44) and he won the 200 (23.48), turning the tables on his teammate Vergara. In those three events, the two sprinters racked up 46 points for Baldwin.
Maui High hurdler Joshua Diaz was a double winner, setting a new meet record in the 300 hurdles at 41.28. The previous record was 41.70. Diaz also beat Wilson in the highs with a time of 16.06.
Seabury Hall’s Jacob Sandoval also won a a pair of gold medals in the 800 (2:15.37) and 1,500 (4:37.38), collecting more than half his team’s fourth-place points.
