Ant Tradition 
In 1968, Ohio State Buckeye's trainer Ernie Biggs came up with the idea to award players with stickers that resembled Buckeye leaves. He wanted to create something that would motivate the players to do better. Since then, countless other football teams have joined in the tradition with Florida State (tomahawks), Clemson (paw prints), Georgia (bones), to name a few.
In 2004, former coach Mark Todd introduced this concept to the Men's Lacrosse Club @ UCI in the form of an ant. After a one year period where the tradition was stopped, the UCI Men's Lacrosse CLub has renewed the tradition of awarding players an ant based on individual and team efforts. The criteria is listed below as well with the current status of the amount of ants per each player as the season goes on.
Here is the Criteria used for Awards:
Each bulletin equals one ant awarded to a player
Offensive
• One Goal (Individual)
• One Assist (Individual)
• Hat-Trick (Individual)
• Three Assists in One Game (Individual)
• Two Rides that results in a turnover (Offensive Unit)
• 70% Conversion on Man-Up (Man-Up Unit)
• Score more than Ten Goals in a Game (Offensive Unit)
Defensively
• Five Successful Clears (Defensive Unit)
• Three Groundballs (Individual)
• 70% Conversion on Man-Down (Man-Down Unit)
• Keep Opponent under Five Points (Close Defensive Unit)
• Shut-Out (Close Defensive Unit)
• De-Sticking a Player (Individual)
Faceoff-Man
• 60% Face-Off Percentage (Individual)
Goalie
• 5 Saves (Individual)
• 70% Save Percentage (Individual)
Team
• A Win (Team)
A player shows up for ALL three practices in one week (Team)
