Jun 13, 2013 - WOU Seeks Head Coach for 2013-14 Season Head Coach, Western Oregon University Western Oregon University Men’s Lacrosse club is seeking a Head Lacrosse Coach for the 2013-14 season. This is a part-time, 9-month, annually renewable position. Qualifications: Duties and Responsibilities: About: To Apply: May 21, 2013 - Wolves Ranked #12 in Final Poll May 21, 2013 (Monmouth, OR) - In the final Nike/Inside Lacrosse MCLA Coaches' Poll the Western Oregon University Wolves are ranked 12th nationally. Western finishes up their 2013 season as the 6-time reigning PNCLL Champion. WOU finished with an 11-5 record with all losses coming to teams ranked nationally in the top 10. The Wolves say goodbye to some very talented hardworking players this season but the future looks bright for Western with the talent they return to Monmouth next season. 1. May 6, 2013 - 9 Wolves Named to All PNCLL List May 6, 2013 (Monmouth, OR) - On top of taking home the 2013 PNCLL Trophy, Western Oregon University took home a lot of individual hardware. Three players were named to the PNCLL 1st team, two to the 2nd team, and four more players earned honorable mention. Jacob Bohince - 1st Team PNCLL Midfield | PNCLL Tournament MVP - Jacob finished the regular season and PNCLL post season first in goals, assists, and points in the PNCLL among midfielders. Bohince also used an eleven point weekend (10g, 1a) to help power WOU to its sixth title. Logan Marks - 1st Team PNCLL Defense | PNCLL Defensive Player of the Year - Logan will have to find a new nickname as his old one "Most Underrated Defenseman" no longer holds true. Logan wrapped up the regular and PNCLL post season with 44 caused turnovers along with 65 ground balls. Logan is the only WOU player to earn PNCLL Defensive Player of the Year. Tyler Preston - 1st Team PNCLL FOS | PNCLL Freshman of the Year - Tyler lived up to the hype all year as many harolded him as the top faceoff man and best freshman in the league but that never stopped Tyler from earning it. In his short time at Western, Preston has already shattered most faceoff records as he earned 219 of 366 faceoffs taken including winning 71% against PNCLL opponents in the regular season. Tyler was the only freshman on this year's PNCLL 1st or 2nd team. Tyler Bolton - 2nd Team PNCLL Attack - Tyler was the quarterback of the WOU offense for most of the year as he was 2nd in the PNCLL for assists with 33. He finished off his senior year against PNCLL opponents in style scoring twelve points (7g,5a) on the final four weekend. Taylor Dougan - 2nd Team PNCLL Midfield - One of the unsung heroes for WOU, Taylor finished second in goals and points among midfielders and third in assists. Dougan was tied for the team lead in man up and man down goals. He was one of Western's most steady performers all year. Clay Malensek - Honorable Mention PNCLL Attack - Clay again made a living this year for the Wolves terrorizing PNCLL opponents. In the seven games against PNCLL foes in the regular season Clay average 4.71 points per game as he proved to be a match up nightmare against all but the fastest defenseman who could keep an eye on him at all times. Brandon Determan - Honorable Mention PNCLL Midfield - Brandon finished first in the PNCLL among freshman in both points and assists and fourth in goals. Brandon's 27 assists was so impressive that it was third in the total PNCLL and more than the next three freshman assist leaders could put up combined. Connor Morgan - Honorable Mention PNCLL LSM - Connor would probably take home the hardest worker if such an award existed in the PNCLL and that is a reflection as he was the only freshmen to make any All PNCLL team this year as a defender. Connor turned in 29 caused turnovers and 42 ground balls in his debut season. Cooper Smith - Honorable Mention PNCLL Defense - Cooper turned a solid performance against the College of Idaho into some post season hardware. And his congratulations, much to the chagrin of his fellow defensemen, are an excellent example of Western's depth within the conference. It's hard to beat teams when their second line defensemen are pulling down conference awards. May 6, 2013 - Wolves Raise Sixth PNCLL Banner May 6, 2013 (Monmouth, OR) - This past weekend was business as usual for the Western Oregon University Men's Lacrosse team, or at least you might think that by looking at the results on paper. In reality, WOU captured its sixth consecutive PNCLL Division II Title in a bit more of a dramatic style. On Saturday, the Wolves were locked together with an alway tough Vikings squad from Western Washington. The Wolves needed to play almost an entire game of physical exciting lacrosse before WWU would give way to WOU. Western turned a blew 10-9 lead in the fourth wide open with eight unaswered goals in the remaining thirteen minutes to march on to the title game. It was title rematch round three this year as Western Oregon and the University of Portland squared off for the third straight time in as many years for the PNCLL title. Western and Portland traded goals in the first quarter with WOU only clinging to a one goal lead after the first before seemingly opening this up in the second. Western held a 6-2 in the middle of the second quarter but lazy play let the Pilots walk right back into the game scoring three straight as WOU took a 6-5 halftime lead. The third and fourth quarters were very defensive with Western only scoring a goal a piece in each quarter but it was more than enough as UP only managed one tally and WOU won 8-6. In another hotly contested game there were several great battles taking shape all over the field. 1st team All-PNCLL FOS Tyler Preston was challenged all day by 2nd team All-PNCLL FOS Nolan Ripple. The PNCLL Defensive Player of the Year Logan Marks played outstanding while matched up against the PNCLL Regular Season MVP Ian McAnnis-Entenman. 2nd team All-PNCLL Attack Tyler Bolton got the better of 2nd team All-PNCLL defense Moussa Gloyd. 1st team All-PNCLL Jacob Bohince put on a clinic for 1st team All-PNCLL LSM Tyler Mills as Bohince went on to be named Tournament MVP. And maybe one of the biggest performances was turned in by the unsung heroes of Western Oregon as netminders Jordan Salazar and Montana Ostrander outshined 1st team All-PNCLL Goalie Mike Henry. Salazar was simply masterful in his second half relief limited the Pilots to one goal. Western will now take their PNCLL Championship act on the road as they have earned the #14 seed in the MCLA National Tournament in Greenville, South Carolina. WOU has a tough first round draw against a familiar face in the #3 seeded St. John's University, a team that rallied to beat Western in Minnesota earlier this season 11-9. Apr 30, 2013 - #14 Wolves Ready for PNCLL Title Run April 30, 2013 (Monmouth, OR) - In week thirteen of the Nike/Inside Lacrosse MCLA Coaches' Poll the Western Oregon University Wolves are ranked 14th nationally. This Saturday and Sunday WOU will head into the PNCLL Final Four as the top seed from the South. Up first for Western Oregon is a tradition like no other, the "Western Bowl." Western Washington will square off with the Wolves for the 11th time in the series and the 4th time in the postseason. In the last three post season meetings the games have always been decided by a last minute goal. If WOU can get past WWU the winner of #18 Portland and #19 Gonzaga will be waiting Sunday. 1. Apr 18, 2013 - Wilsonville High School to host PNCLL Championship Wilsonville High School to host PNCLL Championship presented by Lacrosse Northwest with promotional support from Bigfoot Lacrosse, Orthopedic & Fracture Specialists and Holiday Inn Portland South on May 4th and 5th, 2013. April 18, 2013 - For Immediate Release For the second time in three years Wilsonville High School will host the PNCLL Lacrosse championship tournament on May 4th and 5th. On Saturday May 4th beginning at 10am, 4 semifinal games will be played at Wilsonville High School's Randall Stadium, a state of the art facility that has a capacity of 3000. At the same time, the schools adjacent turf fields will host games from over 25 youth teams at all levels including Aloha, Beaverton, Canby, CYO, EPL, Halo, Liberty, Lincoln, Southridge, Sunset, Tualatin, Westview, and Wilsonville, amongst others. On Sunday May 5 the Division 2 championship game will be played at 10am and the Division 1 championship game will be played at 2pm with a special Bigfoot Lacrosse Clinic to entertain and educate kids in between games. Additionally, a showcase of some of Portland's elite youth talent will be featured on the stadium field between Noon and 1pm. Apr 16, 2013 - #15 Wolves One Win Away from Top PNCLL Seed April 16, 2013 (Monmouth, OR) - In week twelve of the Nike/Inside Lacrosse MCLA Coaches' Poll the Western Oregon University Wolves are ranked 15th nationally. Last Friday night the WOU faithful were on hand to watch Western take down 18th ranked University of Portland. Western improves to 8-4 (3-0 Conf.) on the season and is just one win away from capturing the PNCLL South top seed. If Western can take down conference rival Southern Oregon University this Saturday, WOU will earn a first round bye into the PNCLL playoffs, a loss would most likely result in a quarterfinal matchup for the Wolves. Apr 10, 2013 - Wolves Ranked #15 Heading into Big Matchup April 9, 2013 (Monmouth, OR) - In week eleven of the Nike/Inside Lacrosse MCLA Coaches' Poll the Western Oregon University Wolves are ranked 15th nationally. The Wolves return home after a successful PNCLL road trip earning victories over College of Idaho and Whitman College. With the two wins Western has already secured a spot in this years PNCLL Tournament. WOU will look to earn a first round bye as they get set to host the University of Portland, last year's PNCLL South champion who was able to defeat WOU in the regular season. Opening faceoff is at 8:00pm this Friday, April 12th.
